During the restauration work of La Casa del Mendrugo the site of an old midden, was discovered in the central courtyard, which contained talavera pottery, using the majolica technique of ceramic glazing in ivory-white with metallic enamel, a procedure brought by the Spaniards from the colonial era. All the pieces were items of daily use (plates, jars, bowls, etc.), which were subsequently restored.
Even today we can find Talavera pieces made with the original colonial period methods in Puebla city, Talavera pottery is a traditional handcraft of México.
