During the restauration work of La Casa del Mendrugo the site of an old midden, was discovered in the central courtyard, which contained talavera pottery, using the majolica technique of ceramic glazing in ivory-white with metallic enamel, a procedure brought by the Spaniards from the colonial era. All the pieces were items of daily use (plates, jars, bowls, etc.), which were subsequently restored.
In these present times the Talavera ceramics remain as an exclusive manufacturing process in both Spain and Mexico. Recently, UNESCO has inscribed that Talavera Ceramics of Puebla on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
